Leadership For All Has Many Benefits

Over the last few decades we have seen a growing number of organisations leverage the internet to reduce costs, creating a self-service model for those areas of their operation where technology allows customers to do a stage of the process themselves. The airline industry is a good example, where customers are asked to print their own boarding passes before they fly, saving airlines one step in the process and the printing cost.

The internet in general is also being used for wider self-service activities like online shopping, where a whole section of the sales and fulfilment process is taken online. And there are many more examples of this ‘self-service’ model, originally coined from self-service canteens and restaurants, where the part of the process that involved the food moving from kitchen to customer table was delegated to the customers themselves.
